Ganiba Onsen

The signature experience at Ganiba is the mixed-gender outdoor bath Karanoko no Yu (唐子の湯), a five-minute walk through a beech forest from the inn buildings, set alongside a mountain stream. The water is single-source sulfur spring, colorless and clear, unusually so for Nyuto Onsenkyo, where most baths are milky or tinted. Inside are separate rock and wooden baths, and the inn takes its name from the crabs (蟹, kani) that historically lived in the nearby stream.
