Isaribi sits inside the Michi-no-eki Echizen roadside station on the Fukui coast, with open-air baths that look out over the Japan Sea. During the day you get a wide sea view; at night the name earns its meaning, isaribi (漁火) being the fishing lights that dot the water after dark. There are two bath areas (the indoor baths in each include a bubble bath and a rock bath in one, a cypress bath in the other), and the areas swap between men's and women's on the 15th of each month, so regulars get a chance to try both sides. Sauna and cold bath are in each area as well. Private family baths can be booked by phone. The water is a lightly salty salt spring.
