Every one of the twelve rooms at Kairi Murakami (海里村上) has a private open-air bath on the terrace, fed directly from the source and flowing constantly fresh (kakenagashi, かけ流し), with a view over the sea. The water is gold-colored and notably concentrated, and bathers often notice the skin feels smooth after soaking. Shared indoor and outdoor baths are also available for guests throughout the day, and private reserved baths (kashikiri, 貸切) can be booked by day visitors as well. The ryokan holds the Michelin 5-pavilion rating, the only inn on a remote Japanese island to do so.
