A remote inn about two and a half hours from Hakodate, down a quiet valley in southern Hokkaido. The sodium chloride spring flows directly from the source and turns reddish-brown as the iron in the water oxidises, an honest sign of mineral richness. Both the indoor and outdoor baths overlook the Kenichi River, and the water sits around 45°C, hot and deeply warming.
