Raichoso sits at roughly 2,380 meters in the Tateyama alpine area, reachable only via the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route and a 30-to-60-minute walk from Murodo (室堂) Terminal. The hot spring draws directly from the Jigokudani (地獄谷) source and runs kakenagashi (free-flowing, unchlorinated). The water is milky white with a sulfur scent. Each gender has two options: a heated freshwater indoor bath and an open-air rotenburo (露天風呂) with views of the Tateyama peaks. The lodge is a plain mountain hut with tatami rooms, a lounge warmed by a wood stove, and a cafe. It opens for the season around late April and closes in late November.
