About

Namazu Onsen has two separate natural springs, each with a noticeably different character. The indoor bath runs reddish-brown with iron-rich water, while the outdoor bath has darker, faintly salty water. The name namazu means catfish, and the inn carries a local folk story: a fisherman named Yazaburo discovered a healing spring where white catfish swam, and used the water to cure his mother's swollen feet. The place is family-run, with Japanese-style rooms and a dining room that draws on seafood from Toyama Bay.
