Bicarbonate
Classification

Sodium Bicarbonate spring

The Kuchisakamoto No. 2 source is a municipally operated well in a mountain hamlet of Shizuoka City. A sodium bicarbonate spring of the classic jūsō-sen style, it emerges with a visible evolution of gas and a faint hydrogen-sulfide note. At pH 9.0 the water is alkaline, sitting in Japan's beauty-water family with a noticeably slippery feel on the skin. Moderate mineralization (1,188 mg/kg) plus metasilicic and metaboric acids round out a soft, smooth bath.

273. Kuchisakamoto Hot-spring Baths, Shizuoka Public onsen in a remote area for 300, listed hours 9:30–16:00, except Wed. They stamp the 60+6 Onsen of Shizuoka 24/25 booklet. Marked with a special note in the stamp rally brochure. Part of some local stamp rally. Online photos match. Outdoor bath with clear water with fine lime deposits, temperature 39. Indoor bath with clear water, temperature 40. The place itself is pleasant, but the remoteness is uncomfortable, and it's not really worth going there just for this onsen.
