Shinhotaka Onsen Sanso Shakujo

Fed by the Yakedake volcanic source, the open-air bath here looks straight out at the Northern Alps ridgeline, a view guests come back for ten times over. The mountain inn has a relaxed, family atmosphere and the landlady is a constant presence. Each outdoor bath can be used privately, so you get the scenery without the crowds.
