684. Kurhouse Shirahama, Shirahama, Wakayama Old-school hotel with onsen and pool. Lots of elderly visitors. Visited for higaeri for 1500 (includes the regular pool, which I didn't use). Higaeri hours are 10:00-22:00 (last entry 20:30). They sell the Wakayama 12 Onsen stamp book. Photos of baths from the internet partially match - in person it's more worn. Indoor bath with clear water, temperature around 41. Breathing inside is comfortable, but there's an unpleasant sewage smell from the drain. Outdoor bath with no view. Clear water, slight bubbling near the water source. Temperature around 41. Caters to its own audience and is more of a skip unless you need the achievement. 10.11.2025
