A sodium-led alkaline simple thermal spring, hot at the wellhead (44.5 C). The chemistry leans on bicarbonate with a modest chloride and carbonate edge, giving the slippery, soft feel of Japan's beauty-water family. Mineralization is light at 713 mg/kg, so the water sits gently on the skin rather than coating it.

An onsen complex with several public and private baths in different buildings. I used two indoor public baths, each costs ¥500 (I did not use the rotenburo or private baths). The opening hours listed for the main bath are 6:30~23:45, and for the extra bath 6:30~21:30 (the others also have their own schedules, but they are broad). They stamp the Kyushu 88 Onsen stamp rally. At the entrance, the ticket machines show the current temperature in each onsen.
The first main indoor onsen area is Motoyu. It is said to be the oldest building in Japan still used as an active onsen facility. It has an old-school atmosphere and feels very pleasant. There are two baths, the water is clear, with a slight soapy feel. In terms of temperature, one bath is 43, the other is 45. It is easy to breathe inside. The bath photos online match what you see.
The second extra indoor bath is Houraiyu. The atmosphere is simpler than the main one. The water is clear, with a slight soapy feel. The temperature is 43. It is fine to breathe inside.
A great old-school place, the water is hot, there are few people in the morning, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Recommended for a visit.
