Classification

Sodium Bicarbonate-Chloride spring

An alkaline simple thermal spring drawn from the Mogami-Nishi-Hakone Kamiyama No. 1 well in Gotenba. At pH 8.96 the water carries the slippery, soft-on-skin feel of Japan's beauty-water family, while a light mineralization of 345 mg/kg keeps it gentle and unobtrusive. The wellhead emerges at 32.7 °C — a cool source that is reheated for bathing.

195. Kirakubou, Gotemba Old super sento that's seen some life. Paid 1540, which includes a rental bag, pants, shirt, three small towels, and one large one. There are private baths (didn't take), massage, chill zones, a dining area, massage chairs, a shop, and a few arcade machines. They stamp the Shizuoka 60 Onsen book. The Fuji view situation is very unclear and there are no good photos (so I included an ad from the official website). Can't fully confirm since Fuji wasn't visible at all on my day. The website claims it's visible in good weather. As I understood, there's a decent view from one private bath, and from the public bath it's supposedly from some angle or a specific spot. 1. Outdoor bath section. 1.1. Large stone bath with a canopy. Clear water, temperature 41, slight chlorine smell. 1.2. Another identical large bath with canopy. Didn't notice any differences. 1.3. Solid sauna with lying spots. 1.4. Cold bath. 1.5. Some sort of outdoor sauna tent or something. Didn't understand its purpose, and it was closed. 2. First indoor zone. 2.1. Main bath, clear water, temperature 43. 2.2. Carbonated bath with a TV, clear water, temperature 38-39. Due to the temperature and the TV — higher concentration of elderly men. 2.3. Sauna. 2.4. Cold bath. 3. Second indoor zone. 3.1. Main bath, clear water, temperature 43. 3.2. Salt bath, clear water, temperature rather warm. The saltiness is very strong — all my insect bites on my legs immediately started stinging badly. They ask you to shower before going to other baths. The website claims they import salt from the Dead Sea and dissolve it in the onsen. 3.3. A separate single-person barrel/box. Red herbal water. Couldn't get in — the elderly men were occupying it constantly. 3.4. Sauna. 3.5. Cold water bath. Interesting place with a decent number of baths and saunas, including rare ones. On a trip to Gotemba, can recommend visiting + makes sense to also go to the neighboring super sento Gotemba Kogen Gensen Chame-Yudono just a few minutes away. I believe they have the same owners.
