Sodium-Magnesium Bicarbonate spring

A sodium-magnesium bicarbonate spring of the soda-water (jūsō-sen) style, soft on the skin. Weakly alkaline at pH 8.05, it has the slippery feel that places it in Japan's beauty-water family. A generous 228 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves a thin silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother. The source is a hot 55.3 °C well drilled to 180 m.

130. Yamada Bessou, Beppu ★★ Visited for a day trip. Price is 500 yen for the indoor public bath, 1000 yen for the private outdoor bath (per person). Day trip hours are from 11:00 to 15:00, but there may be cleaning or a closed day. They stamp the Beppu Onsen passport. Indoor public bath: The water is clear, temperature around 40-41°C. The air inside is pleasant to breathe. Outdoor spacious private bath made of stone: No view - behind a fence. Inside, the atmosphere is nice and comfortable. There is a cooling system at the edge of the bath and a large stick for mixing the water. The water is clear, with temperatures ranging from 42-44°C in different parts of the bath. A place with such a private rotenburo (outdoor bath) immediately earns a recommendation for a visit. 02.05.2024 03.01.2026
