About

A municipal onsen with a secret hot-spring atmosphere, equipped with open-air baths, steam baths, and family baths. It is said that Emperor Daigo healed his illness here in 895 and Emperor Go-Reizei in 1044. It is also said that it became known as "Shibaseki" after "柴 no Kaseki" (fossil of firewood) was found in the Edo period. Designated as a national health and recreation onsen area with high therapeutic effects, there is a forest promenade nearby connecting to Myoban Onsen. (※The forest promenade is currently closed.) In April 1997, it reopened with a new look as a "Fureai Yasuragi Onsenchi" blessed with natural scenery. There are two hot springs with different temperatures, open-air baths, and steam baths, and family baths are available for guests with families.
