Shohoen is a 10-room ryokan in Shin-Hirayu Onsen, set in a farmhouse more than a hundred years old that was moved into the forest a short distance from the main onsen village. Six baths in total: gender-separated indoor baths and open-air baths, plus two private open-air baths available at no extra charge. The water comes from the inn's own springs and runs through all six baths without chlorination. Meals are served in a dining room with an irori (囲炉裏) hearth, centered on Hida beef.
