Classification

Sodium Chloride-Bicarbonate spring

A sodium-led chloride spring with bicarbonate softness layered in, emerging at a striking 75.8 °C — among Japan's hottest natural sources. Weakly alkaline, with a faintly salty tang on the lips and a quiet, moderately mineralized body. A generous 125.7 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves the kind of silica film that smooths the skin, placing it firmly in the Japanese "beauty-water" family.

About

A beachfront hotel right beside Shirahama's famous white-sand beach, with two distinct spring sources: a smooth mountain spring (Fuji no Yu) and a mineral-rich ocean spring (Shokkan no Yu) that heats the body deeply. In summer (July through September) the hotel operates a swimwear-required mixed outdoor bath called Sanrakumaru, guests can move between the pool and the onsen directly. All rooms face the ocean.

628. Hotel Sanrakuso, Shirahama, Wakayama ★ Visited on higaeri using the tegata. Higaeri stated as 15:00 to 21:00 (not on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays). M/F bath rotation - I was in Yoimachi. Part of the Shirahama tegata (2 stickers). They sell the 12 Onsen of Wakayama stamp. The hotel has some Showa-era vibes. On service - the male staff I saw were trying to handle Russian-speaking foreign guests checking in without any English knowledge, doing everything very stiffly. The onsen's special feature is, surprisingly, a projector that broadcasts videos "for atmosphere" right into the bath area. Baths: 1. Wooden bath with clear water, some rare foam on the surface. 40 degrees. 2. Sunken bath. Slightly cloudy blue water. Proper sulfurous onsen smell. 41-42 degrees. A fairly average place, but worth noting for the unusual projector feature and the water in the second bath. 17.06.2025
