Classification

Sodium Bicarbonate spring

A sodium-led bicarbonate spring — the classic jūsō-sen style — with chloride and sulfate nuances layered in, emerging hot at the source. Weakly alkaline and soft on the skin, it sits in the Japanese beauty-water family. At the wellhead the water carries a faint yellow-brown tint with a weak salty tang and a metallic iron note. A fair 88.4 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves the kind of silica film that makes skin feel smoother.

581. Panorama no Yu, Hokuto, Yamanashi ★★ Onsen with a view of Mt. Fuji for 830 yen. Operating hours from 10:00 to 22:00 (closed Tue). They stamp the Yamanashi 100 Onsen book. Bath photos from the internet match — Fuji was visible during my visit. 1. Outdoor area. 1.1. Stone bath with a distant view of Mt. Fuji. From the onsen, Fuji is visible sitting from a few spots, and standing it's visible from everywhere. Clear water, temperature around 39°C. 1.2. Sauna. 1.3. Cold bath. 2. Indoor bath with clear water, temperature around 41°C. View of Fuji through glass as well. Breathing inside is good. Stone rotenburo, nice view, plus the chance to see Fuji. Recommended in this area, but during prime time there's a risk of crowds. 15.05.2025
