About

Suisaikaku (水哉閣) is the onsen annex of Sansuien, a long-established ryokan on the grounds of the former Yamauchi clan villa in Kochi. The name comes from Emperor Taisho, who as Crown Prince praised the beauty of the Kagami River with the words "mizu yoki kana" (水良き哉, "how beautiful the water is"). The baths include indoor pools, a small open-air bath facing the river, a waterfall bath, a sauna, and a cold plunge. The water is smooth on the skin. The men's bath, Ichitoyo-no-yu (一豊の湯), is on the second floor; the women's, Chiyo-no-yu (千代の湯), on the third. Day use is available.
