Sodium Chloride-Bicarbonate spring

A gentle simple thermal spring drawn from a hot 64.1 °C wellhead, neutral in pH and colorless, tasteless and odorless. Its dissolved-solids load is light at 764 mg/kg, but it carries a generous 159 mg/kg of metasilicic acid — the kind of silica film that leaves skin feeling noticeably smoother, placing it in the Japanese beauty-water family.

102. Sumiyoshi Onsen, Beppu ★ An old-school onsen for ¥300 (¥150 for locals). The stated hours are 15:00 to 22:30. They stamp the Beppu Onsen-do stamp. No staff, no shower. Two adjoining indoor baths with clear water, the smaller bath is 48 degrees and the larger bath is 44 to 45 degrees. In January there were citrus fruits in the bath. It is easy to breathe inside. The high temperature is something to keep in mind for those who like that sort of thing. 30.04.2024 02.01.2026
