About

Keiunkan (慶雲館) holds the Guinness record as the world's oldest hotel, tracing its founding to 705 AD when a spring was first opened in this Yamanashi mountain valley. Six baths draw from four natural springs, all kept flowing in true kakenagashi (源泉掛け流し). The fourth-floor open-air Bokei-no-yu (望渓の湯) looks out over the Hayakawa river gorge, while the stone-lined Hakuho-no-yu (白鳳の湯) sits at river level; two private open-air baths are available by reservation. The water is colorless and leaves skin noticeably smooth. Every room has its own in-room spring bath. A cave bath and ganbanyoku (岩盤浴) stone-floor sauna, both added in the 2026 renovation, round out the bathing options.
