318. Spa Suminoe, Osaka ★ A super sento with hot spring water, 35 minutes from Osaka Station, for 750-850. The water is pumped up from 700 meters underground, there was a sign, but it was in the onsen area. Business hours are listed as 10:00 to 02:00. They stamp the Kansai 41 Super Sento 24/25 rally. There is a diner, a hair salon, massage, arcade games, places to relax, a shop, massage chairs, and manga. There are two bath sets, switched by men and women, Forest and Bamboo. I had the Bamboo set with bamboo in the rotenburo. The bath photos are from the internet, and they only partly match, the tint of the clear water in the marked baths was actually a little brown, while in the photos the water looks simply clear everywhere. 1. Outdoor area with no view. The baths are fairly comfortably spaced apart, and there is a bit of bamboo and some trees around the baths and walkways, which gives it a pleasant atmosphere. 1.1. Square bath in the center. The water is clear, slightly brown. Temperature 43. 1.2. Large bath by the wall. The water is clear, slightly brown. Temperature 38-39. 1.3. Three square mini baths, in a barrel-style format, built into the large bath by the wall. 1.4. Carbonated bath with a TV, but there were no bubbles on the body, apparently it was not working, temperature 38. 1.5. Two reclining baths with a water flow. 1.6. Sauna. 1.7. Steam bath. 2. Indoor area. Breathing is fine, and there is no chlorine smell. 2.1. Double semicircular bath. One side is for lying down, the other is a regular bath. The water is clear, slightly brown. Temperature 41. 2.2. Ten jet baths of different kinds, including an electric bath. 2.3. Cold bath. A pleasant place for onsen, with bath rotation by men and women, convenient logistics in the city, and many jet baths. It is worth considering for trips not far from Osaka. 02.01.2025

Spa Suminoe is a large day-use bathhouse in Osaka's Suminoe ward, right next to the boat-racing stadium and a short walk from Suminoe-koen station. Two open-air baths sit in a garden area, and the indoor hall is packed with variety: a high-concentration carbonated bath, several kinds of jet baths, an electric bath, a lukewarm bath, a lying-down bath, and a tub that changes each month. The water itself runs clear and light in color. A Finnish-style sauna called Isness runs loyly steam sessions, and there's a salt sauna plus a deep, properly cold plunge bath to finish off. The building shows some age, but the baths are kept clean and the outdoor garden turns nice colors in autumn. After bathing there's a restaurant serving Sanuki udon among other dishes, and reflexology and massage are available too.

A good super sento in Osaka. Regular water (although it says onsen), but very nice outdoor baths + the sauna is also excellent (one where a machine periodically adds water to the stones) and all for just 750 yen.
