ゆごや物語

Yugoya Monogatari is a day-use family bath in Hinatayama Onsen with no shared bathing area at all: all twelve rooms are private and booked whole, by the room rather than by headcount. One room has its own ryokan-style open-air bath, and some have a private sauna with steam service. The spring water is colorless and clear, with a soft, lotion-like feel that locals know as a skin-beautifying water, gentle enough for small children. Eight of the rooms are named after Japanese fairy tales like Momotaro and Kaguyahime (the Momotaro room has a water slide fed by the spring), and the other four follow the seasons of Sei Shonagon's Pillow Book: charcoal, cherry blossom, firefly, moon. The inn opened in 1971 as the place that started the family-bath style of bathing in Hinatayama Onsen.
