The indoor Ranpu-no-yu (ランプの湯) runs as kakenagashi with two tubs side by side: one unheated spring water, one heated, used in alternation. The outdoor bath sits on the Takamine plateau with a wide view over the mountain ridgeline. The water is slightly milky with a faint sulfur scent, and the spring is also available to drink. The lodge belongs to the Nihon Hito wo Mamoru Kai (日本秘湯を守る会), the society for preserving remote hot spring inns. In winter the road closes and guests arrive by snowcat. No soap or shampoo is used in the baths.
