A simple alkaline thermal spring whose water reaches pH 10.1 at the wellhead — strongly alkaline, with the slippery, soft feel of Japan's beauty-water family. Lightly mineralized at 248 mg/kg total dissolved solids, it is colorless and transparent, odorless, and carries only a very faint sweetness.

662. Rivage Spa Hikigawa, Hiki, Shirahama, Wakayama Onsen for 780 with alkaline water (pH 10.1). Operating hours are 14:00-20:00 (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri) and 11:00-20:00 (Sat, Sun). They stamp the Wakayama 88 Onsen book. Photos of baths from the internet partially match - in person the condition is a bit worse. Planned to close on March 22, 2026. 1. Outdoor bath. A conditional view through a frosted glass fence. Clear water, temperature around 41. Has a slippery/soapy feel. 2. Indoor area. Breathing inside is fine. 2.1. Main bath by the window with clear water, temperature around 42.5. 2.2. Corner bath with clear water, temperature around 34-36. 2.3. Small bubble bath, clear water, temperature around 42. 2.4.
