Kogakuro keeps its baths small on purpose: by running the Akakura spring water unfiltered and without recirculation straight to the tubs, the inn trades capacity for authenticity. Yubana (hot spring flakes) float in the water, and bathers consistently report smooth skin after soaking. There are two baths that alternate between men and women. The rotenburo looks out over the mountain village rather than a dramatic peak, with a mountain breeze coming through. The building shows its age, but the heavy old lobby has a weight that newer construction can't replicate.
