A sodium- and calcium-led sulfate spring with a chloride sub-type giving it a settled, mineral-rich body and a salty edge. Neutral in pH, colorless, clear, tasteless and odorless, it carries 2,046 mg/kg of dissolved solids — moderately mineralized with noticeable body. With a source temperature in the 28 °C range it is a low-temperature mineral spring, reheated before bathing.

Sitting right on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi (Kawaguchiko), this hotel has both a communal indoor bath and an open-air rotenburo, plus a private outdoor bath you can book at the front desk. The views from the baths take in Mount Fuji, which is especially striking in the morning. The hotel has a relaxed, boutique feel rather than a big-chain atmosphere.
191. Mizno Hotel, Kawaguchiko ★★
Stayed overnight. A hotel with an onsen on Lake Kawaguchiko, with views of Mt. Fuji both from the hotel and from the onsens. It was cloudy when I had a view, but I could still judge the viewpoint fairly objectively. A Japanese man inspired by Western culture created this fusion hotel, mixing European and Japanese styles. It turned out very distinctive, with a pleasant atmosphere in the lobby and an interesting library, there is even a copy of Tokyo Toilet. There are also two dining options, a Japanese set meal or a French fusion menu. I chose the latter. They had no problem making a double dinner for one. I really liked the food, they serve it in the restaurant area with a view of Mt. Fuji, some seats are inside and some on the balcony. The room was like a modern hotel room with a balcony and a view of Mt. Fuji. Good service.
For the evening I booked a private bath for ¥5,500. It can only be reserved in a slot after check-in, it is not available for the early morning of the next day. The bath is on the top floor, where there is a great view of the lakes and the mountain, if it is visible that day. Old-school music also plays there, which fits the atmosphere of this fusion place very well, and drinks are set out for your arrival, so you can make it a romantic hour with some wine. The water is clear and hot.
The outdoor and indoor public baths have clear water and are hot. It is comfortable to breathe in the indoor bath. The indoor bath is partly behind frosted glass, which worsens the view. The outdoor bath is very small, but it has a direct view of Mt. Fuji. There is a sauna.
A very cool, distinctive place. It can be recommended if you want to add variety to your Japanese ryokan trips, but want something more than just a modern hotel, something with its own uniqueness, this is a great place. It is also very good for a romantic stay. But you should understand that the onsens are the hotel’s weak point, and I would definitely choose the private bath here in any case, because the private baths are very good and balance out the onsen rating of the place overall. Overall, I really liked this place, and it is pleasant to remember.
