About

Horinji Onsen is the only inn at this spot in the mountains on the Toyama and Ishikawa border, with a small indoor bath and an outdoor bath split by a partition between the men's and women's sides. The spring water feels warm and smooth on the skin, and bathers say the warmth stays with you well after you get out. It even runs through the shower taps. The outdoor bath is modest, fitting only a handful of people at a time and without much of a view, so it suits a quiet soak more than a scenic one. It's an older wooden ryokan known locally for home style meals made with regional ingredients.
