The outdoor rock bath and indoor bath with jet tub take turns between genders on a time-band schedule. The clear, very smooth water from the alkaline mineral spring is also drinkable. The spring's history goes back to the late 1600s, and the ryokan name Irinomotoyu (入の元湯) comes from an old story about a feudal lord who recovered his health here. Meals are served in a traditional gassho-zukuri (合掌造り) dining hall around an irori (囲炉裏) hearth, with a style of grilled skewers called okariba-yaki (お狩場焼き).
