About
A small public bath up in the hills of Kozagawa, opened a few days a week by its caretaker. The water is a high-alkaline simple spring at pH 9.5 and feels properly slippery on the skin, which is where the name comes from: the town's first mayor called it the beautiful woman's bath (Mimeyu, 美女湯). It was found by accident during road works in the late 1970s. There are two small tubs, one for men and one for women, each big enough for two or three people, and the rest room is hung with the caretaker's own photographs of the Kozagawa valley.
