About

Spring water flows straight from the source through all the baths here, with no chlorination added. Showers run on the same water. There are two indoor baths and three open-air rotenburo (露天風呂), all gender-alternating by time slot. The outdoor baths sit in mountain greenery, and on a quiet morning you can hear hawks and bush warblers from the water. The irori (囲炉裏, open hearth) in the entrance hall fills the building with charcoal smoke the moment you walk in. After bathing, guests sit around the fire and grill things over the coals. The facility is over thirty years old and plainly rustic. Resident cats roam the rest area and see guests off at the door.
