A simple thermal spring from Enzohara in Yamanashi City. At pH 9.5 it tips into the strongly alkaline range, giving the pronounced slippery feel that defines Japan's beauty-water family. Lightly mineralized at 158.6 mg/kg total dissolved solids, but a generous 51.3 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves a thin silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother afterwards.
553. Fruit Spa PukuPuku, Daiku, Yamanashi ★★★
Super sento with onsen water for 930 with an amazing view of the city and mountains from the rotenburo. Operating hours are listed as 10:00 to 23:00. They stamp the Yamanashi 100 Onsen book, but the stamp is badly worn. Has a restaurant, massage chairs, shop, chill zone, and observation deck. Bath photos are from the internet — evening ones match, the ones with Fuji are approximate (I visited in the evening and didn't see the mountain myself).
1. Outdoor area. Upon entering, a gorgeous view of the city and mountains opens up. In good weather there should be a view of Mt. Fuji.
1.1. First barrel at the edge. Best view of the city and mountains from a barrel, since it's elevated relative to the other baths. The temperature also allows you to enjoy the view for a very long time. Clear water, temperature around 37-38.
1.2. Two additional barrels. Located a bit further past the first barrel, so the view gets slightly worse. Clear water, temperature around 37-38.
1.3. Stone bath with an infinity view. Once submerged to the infinity level, the view drops off significantly. You need to stay near the edge or sit on the rim to keep it. Clear water, temperature around 40.
1.4. Rectangular bath with an infinity view. View situation similar to the stone bath. During my visit, yuzu of different sizes were floating in the bath. Clear water, temperature around 41.
1.5. Shallow cold bath.
2. Indoor bath with clear water, temperature around 41.5. Breathing inside is fine.
Amazing place, highly recommended. The view from the outdoor area, especially from the barrel, is absolutely stunning.
