Classification

Sodium Sulfate spring

An alkaline simple thermal spring with a strongly alkaline pH of 10.0 at the wellhead. With dissolved solids of just 172 mg/kg the water is lightly mineralized and gentle on the body, yet the strong alkalinity gives the pronounced slippery feel of Japan's beauty-water family. At the source it is colorless, clear, tasteless and odorless, making for an easy, mild bathing water.

About

A day-use onsen near Lake Yamanaka with open-air baths that face Mt. Fuji on clear days. The water is strongly alkaline, leaving skin noticeably smooth. Indoor baths, dry and mist saunas, and a cold bath are also available. A restaurant and rest area make it easy to spend a few hours. On the smaller side by scale, but the outdoor view is the main draw.

167. Benifuji no Yu hot spring, Yamanakako Super sento near Yamanakako. The main feature is a great view of Fuji from the baths. There's a food and merch shop, manga to read, chill zones (including one with a Fuji view), an arcade area, restaurant, massage chairs. They stamp the Yamanashi 100 Onsen book. The main indoor bath is on the upper floor with an excellent eye-level view of Fuji. There's a jet zone. Clear water, hot temperature. An additional indoor bath with strong bubbles, water is the same. There's also a sauna, steam bath, and cold bath. Comfortable to breathe. The outdoor area is one floor below the indoor area, so the Fuji view angle is slightly worse, but still good. One of the outdoor baths is in stone, clear, hot temperature. The second outdoor rectangular bath with wooden walls is clear, just warm temperature. If Fuji is visible, highly recommended to visit.
