Aurora Onsen (Aurora Farm Village)

Aurora Onsen is the hot spring at Aurora Farm Village, a handbuilt campground and lodge complex a few kilometers down a dirt track off the highway. The water is a moor spring kept flowing fresh (kakenagashi, 掛け流し), deep brown and silky on the skin, with a faint earthy sulfurous scent. There are separate indoor and outdoor baths for men and women, plus a larger mixed open-air bath (konyoku rotenburo, 混浴露天風呂). No soap, shampoo, or dryers are provided. Cottages and log houses are available for overnight stays, and meals are served in the main reception building.
