Set above 1,200 meters in the mountains of Fukushima, Noji Onsen Hotel has six separate baths fed by free-flowing (kakenagashi, 源泉かけ流し) sulfur springs. The water comes out milky white and gives the skin a noticeably smooth feel. Three of the baths, including Tengu no Yu (天狗の湯), an open-air bath, and Senju no Yu (千寿の湯), a cypress indoor bath, rotate between men and women every three hours, so staying a night or two lets you work through most of them. The building has a well-worn, old-school ryokan feel that fits the remote mountain setting.
