Sodium Bicarbonate-Chloride-Sulfate spring

A sodium-led blend of bicarbonate, chloride and sulfate water rising at 66.1 °C — among the hotter sources in the country, cooled before bathing. The water carries a faint yellow tint at the source, a salty tang and an unmistakable rotten-egg note of hydrogen sulfide layered with a metallic iron edge. Weakly alkaline and gentle on the skin, with a generous 313 mg/kg of metasilicic acid that leaves a thin silica film for noticeably smoother skin.

423. Soutarouan, Minamioguni, Kumamoto (Oda Onsen) I visited for a day trip for 500 yen, located about a 30-minute walk from the center of Kurokawa. There are private baths for day trips available for 1000 yen. The day trip hours are stated as 11:00 to 15:00, and they strictly observe the start time. After using the public bath, I returned to use the private bath for 1000 yen. The owner was impressed that I came all the way from Russia for a day trip and said I didn't need to pay for the private bath, then personally showed me around. After the onsen, I walked back to my car and returned with a matryoshka doll as a gift for the owner. The public outdoor stone bath has clear water, slightly cloudy. Temperature around 42°C. The private medium-sized outdoor stone bath has clear water, slightly cloudy. Temperature around 43°C. It's impossible not to recommend this place after such warm hospitality. 15.01.2025
