About

Kagaribi no Yu Ryokusuitei sits on a hill above Akiu Onsen, reached by a steep road up from town. The inn draws its own hot spring, unusual for Akiu where most places share a common source, and the water feels soft on the skin. A large indoor bath, Ryokusui no Yu (緑水の湯), connects by a flight of stairs to a rock-lined open-air bath, Kagaribi no Yu (篝火の湯). Baths are separated by gender, with no private bookable bath, and there's also a sauna. After dark, bonfires are lit along the path down to the outdoor bath, the kagaribi that give the inn its name, and it's the detail guests come back for.
