About

A hot spring retreat protected by onsen enthusiasts. The source spring of this facility emits steam because the water temperature exceeds boiling point. Using a homemade device, the temperature is lowered to intentionally obtain liquid hot spring water. As the hot spring water flows through the homemade equipment, heat escapes and hot spring crystals called "Yunohana" float in the water.

148. Okumyoban Sanso, Beppu ★★ Addendum to the previous review. They stamp the Beppu Onsen-do book. An OYUCA card was issued for this onsen. This time we took a different private onsen — the largest one. It has two baths — an outdoor stone one and an indoor one. Both with white-blue water with plenty of fine white mineral deposits, that proper onsen sulfur smell. Both baths at temperature 42. As in the first review — excellent place, recommended for visiting. The remoteness is actually a plus for this place. 05.04.2025

148. Okumyoban Sanso, Beppu The place is a bit out in the sticks - the taxi driver didn't immediately understand where to go. Operating hours listed from 10 to 20. As I understood, the format is renting one of four private baths. 550 yen for one bath per person. They led me to the far right one in the wooden building. No shower, body wash/shampoo available. Stamp given at a separate building nearby. The water in the bath is milky, with a lot of fine white mineral deposits (visible in the photo). Temperature hot-. Noticeably sulfurous smell. Great place, if I had more time I'd visit the other private baths too.
