Classification

Sodium Carbonate-HSiO3 spring

An alkaline simple thermal spring rising in Koshu's Yamato district. Its high pH gives the slippery, skin-smoothing feel of Japan's beauty-water family, and a faint hydrogen sulfide note drifts up at the source. Lightly mineralized at just 0.162 g/kg of dissolved solids, the water is gentle and soft on the skin.

Bath photos from the internet match reality. 1. Indoor area. Breathing inside is good. 1.1. Main bath with a round bubble zone. Clear water with a slippery/soapy feel. Temperature around 41°C. 1.2. Six reclining jets. Clear water, temperature around 40°C. 1.3. Bath with clear water, temperature around 34°C. 2. Outdoor bath in stone. View of trees. Clear water, less of the soapy feel. There's a slight smell from the water, similar to chlorine. Temperature around 40-41°C. A second rotenburo nearby, but it wasn't actually in use — just serving as overflow from the main one. 16.05.2025
