This is the day-use bath at a ryokan in the hills of Kumaishi, on Hokkaido's coast near Yakumo. The indoor bath is split for men and women and pairs a sauna and a jacuzzi with a larger soaking tub, while a smaller outdoor bath looks out toward the surrounding mountains (it closes for winter, usually reopening around late April). The spring water is mildly, faintly salty.
