Hirayu-no-Yu (平湯の湯) is about as stripped-down as an onsen gets: one outdoor pool, no shower area, just a couple of basins and a donation box at the entrance. The water runs brown from iron and flows fresh without recirculation. After soaking, a gassho-style building next door serves as a rest area. A free foot bath sits nearby. It belongs to the Hirayu Folk Museum complex in Okuhida, one of Japan's denser onsen areas, and the setting feels appropriately unhurried.
