Spring chemistry and what it does, with the research behind it.

曹BicarbonateSodium Bicarbonate spring

A sodium bicarbonate spring — the classic juso-sen style, with sodium accounting for 98% of the cations. Alkaline at pH 8.5, it carries the slippery feel that places it squarely in Japan's beauty-water family. The certificate's sensory row records colorless, clear water with a faint hydrogen sulfide note and visible bubbling at the wellhead, over a moderate 1,362 mg/kg of dissolved solids.

Good for

Smooth skin

Bicarbonate and alkalinity gently lift dead keratin while silica hydrates, leaving skin smooth. This is the basis of the beautifying-water (bijin-no-yu 美人の湯) reputation.

dry, rough skin

Recovery

Warmth and buoyancy lower stress markers and improve sleep; habitual bathing is linked to lower rates of depression.

fatigue, stress
