Day-use hours change with the season: 9:00 to 19:00 from March to May and in September, 9:00 to 20:00 from June to August, and 9:00 to 18:00 from October to February (last entry 30 minutes before close). The bath may also close without notice in bad weather.

A blended source: the Nishina-Dogashima No. 5 and No. 16 wells are combined, and the sample is taken at the town's hot-water distribution point rather than at a wellhead. The chemistry is a calcium- and sodium-led sulfate spring — settled, mineral-rich water of moderate mineralization, about 2,290 mg/kg of dissolved matter with sulfate dominating the anions. At pH 8.8 it is alkaline enough for the soft, faintly slippery feel that places it in Japan's beauty-water family. The certificate classifies the source itself as a high-temperature spring; at the point of use the water reaches the bath at 40.5 °C.

This is a single small hot-spring rock bath (iwaburo, 岩風呂) built onto a clifftop above Suruga Bay, split into separate baths for men and women on either side of the stairs up from the parking lot. There's no washing area; the runoff drains straight to the sea, so soap and shampoo aren't allowed, just rinse and soak. It's one of several day-use baths run by Nishiizu town, but the setting is what makes it stand out: right on the cliff edge, with nothing between you and the water. Reviewers often have it to themselves, and some mention recognizing it from the anime Yuru Camp△ (ゆるキャン△).

248. Sawada Park open-air bath, Izu ★ A public onsen on the shore for ¥600, hours listed as 09:00 to 20:00 (except Wed). There is a nice stair climb up to the bath itself. They stamp the Shizuoka 60 Onsen 24/25 rally. The bath photo from the internet matches. The bath has a view of the bay, but there is a wooden fence with beams installed. It looks acceptable. The main point, though, is that right in front of that fence there is a spot where you can stand and look out from the edge to get the best possible view, and the scenery here is really great. No body soap or shampoo. The water in the bath is clear, with a little lime. Temperature is 40.5. An interesting place, if you are nearby it is worth stopping in. 10.11.2024
