About
Kotaki Onsen is a small traditional ryokan in Tsuchiyu Onsen (土湯温泉), Fukushima, where all 10 rooms in the newer wing come with a private open-air bath on the balcony, each fitted with a ceramic tub from Shigaraki (信楽). The water is a clear alkaline spring with a gentle sulfur note and a smooth feel on the skin; the outdoor baths run on fresh, unrecirculated spring water. The shared large bath on the ground floor has both an indoor pool and an outdoor rock bath beside a small stream. On the rooftop there are two bookable private outdoor baths, one with a view of Minowa-san (箕輪山) and the Arakawa river, the other a wooden barrel bath 22 meters up. The inn is run by a small all-female team and has a relaxed, unhurried feel that reviewers consistently mention.
