About
Santokuya is a small, family-run minshuku in Echigo-Yuzawa, right by the ropeway up to Yuzawa Kogen and about eight minutes on foot from the station. The inn's single bath is compact and only for guests, but it runs kakenagashi (掛け流し) natural hot-spring water and stays open 24 hours, so it's easy to find a stretch of time to have it to yourself. The 16 rooms are simple tatami rooms, and meals center on local Koshihikari rice, home-grown vegetables, and plain home cooking rather than anything fancy. Regulars keep coming back for the old-fashioned ski-lodge feel and the unpretentious, homey mood.
