Domeki Onsen (百目鬼温泉) was established in 2006 by 70 local households who pooled together to build it. The water runs fully kakenagashi, faintly salty and warm, straight from the source without recirculation. The main draw is a large open-air rock bath where you can see the Zao (蔵王) mountains and the Yamagata city skyline. There's also an indoor bath on a rotation schedule between the men's and women's sides, plus a sauna added in a 2018 renovation. Locals call it the "Ultraman Onsen" because the heat is intense enough that the staff recommends soaking in short bursts.
