About

A single-inn ryokan at the end of a narrow mountain road along the Kiyotsu River, with a history going back around 700 years. The spring is known as one of Japan's rare me-no-onsen (目の温泉), waters traditionally believed to benefit the eyes. The water flows at close to body temperature, kakenagashi (free-flowing, not recirculated), and fills both indoor and open-air baths, all gender-separated. A member of the Nihon Hito wo Mamoru Kai (日本秘湯を守る会), the network of remote inns preserving traditional onsen culture.
