About

A green-rich hot spring experience resort hotel located on a hill in Beppu. It is a rare type of hot spring in Beppu where you can enjoy various types of hot springs at once. Bathing together with men and women wearing swimsuits. The "garden-style bath" surrounded by green trees is full of baths with unique features, including a spacious open-air bath with a pale blue color. It is also recommended for families and groups to enjoy together. In October 2025, a barrel sauna was installed on the Sora no Yu site.

483. Morinoyu Resort, Beppu ★★ Visited again for a day trip. This time during the daytime in January. For 2500 yen, the onsen and sauna are available. The temperature of the baths was different from the last visit. The rotenburo (outdoor bath) became cold. 1. Large stone bath. The water is clear, temperature 21°C. 2. Square bath with the best view of the mountain. The water is clear, temperature 43°C. 3. Square bath. The water is clear, temperature 43°C. 4. Square bath with bubbles. The water is clear, temperature 43°C. 5. Distant hot square bath. The water is clear, temperature 45°C. 6. Foot bath. 7. Cold bath. 8. Sauna. During the daytime in winter, the place looks bare, although it retains its basic features. The unpleasant thing is that the rotenburo became cold compared to the visit in 2025. But the place is still great, although in the cold season it is recommended to visit in the evening. 04.01.2026

483. Morinoyu Resort, Beppu ★★ We visited for a day trip at 1300 yen. The day-use hours are from 15:00 to 22:00 (April to October) and from 15:00 to 21:00 (November to March). They stamp the Beppu Onsen passport. There are also outdoor and indoor baths available only for overnight guests. This is a mixed-gender onsen, but with clothing. The bathing area is literally visible upon entering the hotel. You can wear your own clothes or rent clothing for 300 yen. The maximum experience is if you find yourself alone and wearing normal, non-swimming attire. We visited after the mountain burning event at the Beppu Onsen Festival. The burning mountain can be seen from many onsens, and during cherry blossom season, it was a combo – from the rotenburo (outdoor bath) you could see several types of cherry blossoms and the burning mountain simultaneously. The water in all baths was clear, but I can't comment on cloudiness or tint since we were there late in the evening. According to photos online, the water varies from clear to slightly cloudy to cloudy blue. The website listed the water temperature as the same between baths, but in reality it was different for us. Maybe because it was late evening, or maybe they just set the temperatures that way. 1. Large stone bath, water temperature about 35-37°C. 2. Square bath with the best view of the mountain, temperature 40°C. 3. Square bath, temperature 43°C. 4. Square bath, temperature 38°C. 5. Square bath with bubbles, temperature 37°C. 6. Foot bath. 7. Cold bath. The place is very cool – a large stone rotenburo, mixed-gender onsen. Yes, there is a downside due to the clothing. It's suitable for beginners at any time because of the clothing, but for those seeking a more authentic atmosphere, catch the timing either early morning or late evening with non-swimming attire. 04.04.2025
