About the in-room onsens:
3. Outdoor bath in the Gekko room. A very large and cool bath for a room. Not every onsen has a public bath of this size. Great view of the trees. The water is clear, temperature around 42°C.
4. Indoor bath in the room. The water is clear, initially at a temperature of 47.2°C.

About the onsens. There is a rotation of public baths by gender:
1. First set of baths by gender (left bath). An outdoor bath with an amazing view of the forest, river, and waterfall. The water is clear. Temperature is 42.5°C at the edge of the bath and 44°C closer to the water source.
2. Second set of baths by gender (right bath). The view is less impressive but the waterfall is still visible. The water is clear, with a temperature of 41-42°C.
3. Enjoyed the outdoor bath in the room in four different conditions: cloudy weather, snow, sunny weather with yukemorebi (sunlight filtering through trees), and nighttime.

The ryokan is a 10-minute drive or a 35-40 minute walk from Kurokawa Onsen. The ryokan consists of a complex of buildings, isolated from other facilities, with an excellent atmosphere of seclusion. The ryokan has rooms of various levels with baths. There are two luxury rooms, one with a large bath overlooking the trees, and the other with a stone rotenburo (outdoor bath).
I stayed overnight in the Gekko room. The room is in a separate cottage, inside: a bedroom, a tatami room with a small balcony, two toilets, an indoor bath, a large outdoor bath, a small library room, a dining room with a small balcony, and two restrooms. There are many rooms, but even in winter with snow, everything was heated comfortably enough.
I chose the double meal plan. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast are served in the dining room. The dining room is located at the far end of the building, and the staff sets the table through a "secret" door, trying to do so as discreetly as possible, so no one carries food through the main entrance. I liked the food; it was very respectable.
The staff are Japanese, with high-level service, very attentive. They are aware of the achievement in Kurokawa and found a taxi for the next morning during the snow collapse in the region.
The bath in the room and the public onsens are delightful, the Gekko room is very cool, the service is worthy, the atmosphere is gorgeous, and the food is delicious - a top-level lodging experience.
