An alkaline simple thermal spring at pH 9.25. Lightly mineralized at just 0.18 g/kg of dissolved solids, it is gentle on the body, yet the alkalinity gives the slippery, smooth feel of Japan's beauty-water family. Hypotonic and soft on the skin, it suits a long, unhurried soak.

453. Kakureisen, Saga ★ I visited for a higaeri for ¥1000. Higaeri is listed from 10:00 to 15:00. They stamp the Kyushu 88 Onsen stamp rally. The bath photos on the internet match only partly, I saw it in daylight. Inside there are two baths with clear water in a modern setting. One is a regular bath at 41, the other has sand at the bottom and a temperature of 37. The air inside is easy to breathe, with only the sound of water, very cozy. A pleasant place, if you are nearby, it is worth stopping by for higaeri. 31.03.2025
