642. Mercure Wakayama Kushimoto Resort & Spa ★★ Stayed overnight, didn't get meals. Prices can be under 10k yen for two (without meals), and the hotel's condition is decent (you can tell it's aging, but they update it periodically), there are various perks/options (lounge with drinks, bike rental, pool, etc.), and very solid baths. Bath photos from the internet roughly match — the rotenburo looks and feels cooler in person, while the indoor bath is a bit simpler in person. 1. Outdoor stone bath. There's a view of the bay: sitting in the center of the bath you can see a small portion of the water, but at the edge or standing up the panorama expands significantly. The stones in the bath architecture are well-placed — you can take a break sitting on them. In the evening the stars were very visible. Clear water, temperature 41-42 in different parts of the bath. 2. Indoor zone. Breathing inside is good. 2.1. Large bath with clear water, temperature 40. 2.2. Sauna. 2.3. Cold bath. Great rotenburo and the place looks more expensive than its price. Considering the cost performance, recommended for an overnight stay in Kushimoto. 03.11.2025 04.11.2025
