439. Onyado Nono Asakusa Bettei, Tokyo ★★ I stayed one night, and didn’t use any facilities except the onsen. It’s in Asakusa, very close to Sensoji. Inside, the format feels like a ryokan cosplay hotel. At first it feels a bit strange, but then it feels normal and comfortable. The onsen is similar in format, an upgraded onsen from Dormy Inn business hotels, but with black water, which changes the impression. The bath photos are from the internet, and they match. It’s the older brother of the neighboring Onyado Nono Asakusa, which does not have Bettei, the name and facades are similar, but these are really different properties. If comparing it with plain Nono, Nono Bettei is better, the baths are more varied, the room is better, but the price is often higher, though not always. There is no standard day-use option, but day-use access is possible if staying at Dormy Inn EXPRESS Asakusa. 1. Indoor area. It’s easy to breathe. 1.1. Main bath. The water is cloudy black. Temperature 41-42. 1.2. Two reclining jet baths, clear water. 1.3. Utaseyu. 1.4. Sauna. 1.5. Cold bath. 2. Outdoor area. It is on a fully enclosed balcony. 2.1. Small bath with black water, temperature 42. 2.2. Single bath with clear water, temperature 39-40. 2.3. Single bath with clear water, temperature 42-43. Because of the price and format, this place may be controversial, but it is still a real Tokyo hotel with an onsen, in a good location and with rare black water.
